Steve Held, President & CEO

Steve has over 35 years of experience in the private club, development, and hospitality industry, having been responsible for the openings and turnarounds of more than 45 properties in his career. Prior to launching Legacy Golf Properties, he founded The Dominion Golf Group, a boutique owner and operator of six (6) properties, including the prestigious Dominion Country Club in San Antonio. Steve’s focus on the individuality of each property and investing in the lifestyle of each community, as well as the people involved who make each one unique, have been the hallmark of his endeavors. He began his career with Bloomingdale’s, opening stores for them in Philadelphia and Dallas, then worked with Club Sports International prior to joining ClubCorp in 1994, where he worked until becoming a principal in River Place Country Club in 2005. Very happily married to his wife, Jan, a veterinarian, with five (5) children, and a ranch full of dogs, cats, cows and horses, Steve’s commitment to Legacy Golf Properties and each property’s future is indeed a labor of love.

Justin Jafarian, Chief Operating Officer

Justin brings a lifetime of experience in the management and operation of high-end country clubs and golf courses in the Central Texas area to his position as COO. Throughout his career, Justin has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service and delivering superior private club experiences. In addition to his operational expertise, Justin has a deep passion for hospitality, technology and the modernization of the contemporary member experience. He has served on numerous committees and participated in several focus groups, advocating for the promotion and advancement of game-changing technology in the private club industry.

Janice Schefsky, Controller

Janice is a recent addition to the Legacy Golf Properties team with over 30 years of experience in hospitality accounting. The native Floridian has 20 years of service with Hilton Hotels, most recently as the controller of a DoubleTree Beach Resort. Janice is no stranger to Texas, as she was also the controller for a large country club & HOA in Granbury for 12 years. She has always loved the Hill Country and missed being close to her two sons, who live in Austin and Fort Worth. That led her to relocate to Kerrville, where she is happy to be a Texan again and excited to be a part of Legacy Golf Properties.

Jeff Visser, VP of Agronomy

Jeff first stepped onto the greens at just 16 years old, working at a course in his hometown in Iowa, and he’s been devoted to the sport ever since. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University, he gained valuable experience at working on the agronomy teams at renowned Florida courses such as PGA National and Seminole Golf Club, before moving to Texas to oversee golf operations at the historic Oak Hills Country Club. From hosting events like the PGA Tour and USGA competitions to maintaining some of the country’s top-ranked private courses, Jeff has gained a reputation for providing world-class golf course conditions. He has also been involved in several course renovations and new construction projects, collaborating with renowned architects including Nicklaus Design and Coore & Crenshaw.
